Ubud: a green oasis between the mountains

The island of Bali, one of the more than 18.000 islands that make Indonesia, is made of coastal and mountain towns; where you can divide your stay do experience quite different activities. The island offers high-end resorts, yoga and retreat centres, surf schools, Hindu temples.

Ubud is located at the interior part of the island among the mountains. Its quiet and tranquil air makes one fall in love with it at first sight. It takes more than an hour to get to Ubud from Denpasar Airport. The island population is mostly Hindu, 80 % of the population belong to Hindu religion and it’s widely practiced. You will not feel you’re in a muslim country if you do not travel to other parts of Indonesia. The most beautiful thing about Ubud is the nature, a big wide sky above the green rice terraces, the heavy rain that suddenly starts. Its laid back atmosphere, strolling through its streets, motorbikes will pass by the coloured walls, every narrow wooden door opens to a Hindu god, offerings to Gods on banana leaves in every step you take, art galleries, and women who call for ‘massage’ in every corner. The town is also famous for its annual international literature festival.
