Casco Viejo, walking Panama’s old town: hotels, cafés, bars, shops

Some of the places to hang out in Panama’s old town: the old town itself have few hotels and they are renovated colonial buildings, elegant and expensive. The American Trade Hotel, for example, at the Herrera Square has a jazz club that belongs to the famous jazz musician Daniel Perez and almost every night there’s a live performance. Another nice colonial hotel is the Central Hotel at the Independence Square. Even if you do not stay at these hotels you may check them to feel the colonial charm… another place is a beer house: the Rona Dorado has its own house made beers and it’s always packed with tourists and locals… A nice café with a Parisian air is the Tropical Café, which is also a coffee & chocolate shop… As for the Panama hats, you can find them every where, from fifteen dollars to two hundred, you will find a variety of different qualities of hats. The Hat Palace has various models and colours. Close to the sea side is the Picasso Café that looks like a pub from the outside. Another café and restaurant is the Casablanca at the Simon Bolivar Square.
